89th Ordnance Company Makeshift Sherman Flail in Tunisia

M4A1 Sherman modified in attempt to make an 'ad hoc flail'... March 4, 1943 in Tunisia

This Sherman adaptation was found to be too flimsily constructed to do the proper job of mine detonation and another form was tested in North Africa... with motorized flail.... but... the better functional British design was adopted instead! The Sherman Flail prototype below was shipped and tested in Italy but was not adopted for employment.
