Fezzo's Fixers

DAK Logistics & Services by "Fezzo" AANA's Founding Seven Research Fellow

"Fezzo" will provide a summary of the various DAK or "AFRIKAKORPS" units and fielded service teams that kept the Panzers (and 'Softskins') and even the 'truppen' rolling...

Web pages will be added for:

  • Water & Filtration Units: To find/locate aquifers, dig wells or to deliver "sweet water"
  • Meteorological Units: Weather services and communication interlink between air, naval and grounds arms of service
  • Survey and Cartography: Field units to scout, map, and survey or set fields of fire for 'Artillerie'
  • Jan (FEZZO) is currently doing an in-depth study to be shortly released on the "WEISS" Beobachtungs Gruppe
  • Fezzo & Nacht acquired a nice collection of materials with maps, diaries & photographs from a member of this "WEISS" group to research through and later present here more completely...

Examples:

  • Werkstatt / Repair Units: The Mechanics and service technicians that kept the vehicles operating
  • Recovery & Salvage: Service teams that assayed and brought back AFV's from the field to service depots or identified problems for repair teams
  • Part Delivery & Part Salvage: Service personnel that ordered or acquired (ordered, made or machined) parts, tools or equipment
  • Logistics and Supply: Supply units from ship at port or aircraft at airfield to unit in the field

Additional Research Area:

  • Medical Units: The 'Medical Artz' teams from Physicians to Nurses and types of treatment centers
  • Veterinary Units: Veterinarians that maintained or acquired healthy animals for food sources

Note the 'J' on the door of the Bussing-Nag 4500 with Bilstein Crane for for our I Kp./schwere Panzer 501 Tiger #141 & FAMO

Over 30 photographs are available of Tiger 141... and many more of the repair & service units... seen here with a Pz.Kpfw.III N Duo

"W" was one symbol used for identifying repair, you will also have related materials about 'I' and 'J' symbology
